In that commercial, the question is asked,
what if the Cleveland Indians never existed
? A lot of dated imagery and allusions are used, as you can imagine.
Polk (h/t
Waiting For Next Year
) instead asks pertinent questions that every Indians fan no doubt shouted when watching the original.
I can imagine it went like, "whoa, whoa, what if we weren't destined to be a horrible team?"
Polk's questions are hilarious. "What if we positioned ourselves to be more than a farm system for the Yankees and Red Sox?"
There are grand images, just like the original version. Only they are of dollar dog night and mascot races, things the current fans have to be excited about.
