Gamba Osaka are pleased to announce the return of ex-fan favourite LEANDRO Montera da Silva, on loan from Al Sadd of Qatar. Leandro came to the J.League to play for Omiya Ardija and Montedio Yamagata in 2006, before moving to Vissel Kobe for the 2007 and 2008 seasons where he really made his mark in J1 prompting Gamba to move for his signature. He left Gamba for Qatar in September 2009 after a short, but fruitful period with Gamba.
Coach Masanobu Matsunami will be hoping that the Brazilian can take care of the lack of goals for the team, despite overwhelming possession and chances created. He scored 34 goals in 85 J1 appearances, and notched 27 goals in just 33 games in Qatar - just what the doctor ordered?
His loan contract will run from July 1st, 2012 until June 30th 2013, although he will not be able to play until after July 20th.
